Speaker Series: Nina Ball, Lyrispect

Do you just KNOW you have a great artistic product but don't seem to be reaching the audience and attention you want? Do you feel like the unimaginative or less talented (let's be real) are getting more work and opportunity than you? Are you a "do it yourself"  self-starter type? Do you want to set yourself up for gigs and opportunities that will create themselves? Work smarter not harder as Lyrispect shares what makes for great business practices, memorable meeting and future work.  She will also share a few fun stories and examples from her practice along the way to help you start getting the attention your work deserves. 

Lyrispect is a passionate wordsmith, curator and educator who has served at the pleasure of the NAACP National Convention (2015), The U.S. Coast Guard and The Asian Arts initiative and Congreso de Latinos Unidos to name a few highlights in a performance career that spans more than two and half decades. She has been a director and teaching artist with BLACK GIRLS ROCK! and worked as a national leader with African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (now Array.) In 2014, Lyrispect authored a collection of poetry, "The PreCursor", the first of seven in her creative multi-media series, "Spectrum of a Supernova". An invited guest of the White House, and Sonia Sanchez Award recipient, Lyrispect has contributed to two murals in the city of Philadelphia and has curated over 7 live events at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. Lyrispect was classically trained in theater at Baltimore School for the Arts, and has performed from the British Virgin Islands, Goa India and The Bellagio in Las Vegas. She has given lectures and talks from Milton Academy to New York University and has shared stages with Yasiin Bey, to Saul Williams, and the Last Poets. Most recently she performed at the Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia's 2016 Fall Conference:Toward a More Perfect Union: Strengthening the Sector Together. Lyrispect is musically driven and believes that pure art heals, inspires and changes lives.
